Haiti - Environment : The President Martelly visited the Park of Martissant

The President Michel Martelly, visited Tuesday 18 the Park of Martissant, accompanied by Jean Vilmond Hilaire, Minister of the Environment, the former Prime Minister, Mrs. Michel Duvivier Pierre-Louis, of Ambassadors Javier Nino (EU), Manuel Ruigómez Hernández (Spain) Klaus Peter Schick (Germany) and Luis Manuel Lopez Moreno (Mexico).

Through this visit, the Head of State wanted to show the importance of establishing protected natural areas, to ensure the country's future. "My coming here today is a manifestation of my interest in all projects likely to translate into action, my vision of the new urban environment that we must develop for the new Haiti in construction."

The Ambassador Javier Nino congratulated the Head of State for his interest in the welfare of the Haitian people and took the opportunity to renew the commitment of his country in the struggle led by the Administration Martelly-Lamothe to rebuild the country's image. "We are not here to help the President Martelly, but rather to accompany you nd learn from you too," specified Mr. Nino.

he President Martelly expressed its thanks to all initiators of Botanical Garden of Martissant. "The latter have wished to show, that it is imperative rebuild our vegetation cover and stop wasting and destroying the vegetable treasures that nature has so generously provided to us [...]

I appreciate the effort made by the Fokal and all those who have accompanied it. I sincerely hope that with time, the National Park of Martissant will eventually become part of the daily life of all neighboring populations. And I hope that from what is done here, we will open to a vision of a capital more healthy, more beautiful and attractive."

Through its botanical garden, the Park of Martissant highlights the beauty, the nutritional value and medicinal of plants that grow in our country. The President Martelly remains convinced that this park, will encourage to review and set public policy, in terms of transport, traffic, urban planning, etc... "Under the prism of the environmental protection and of sustainable development."
