Haiti - Health : Inauguration of the new maternity facilities at the hospital Saint Damien
Tomorrow, Thursday, January 12, 2012, will be held at St. Damien Pediatric Hospital "Our Little Brothers and Sisters", the inauguration of the Departments of Neonatology and Maternity and new operating rooms for the Department of Maternity.
Two years after January 12, 2010, the direction of the program of care of high risk pregnancies, of the hospital and the Department of Neonatology, wants to give a concrete sign of the rebirth of Haiti.
The two new departments have been created with the support of the Fondazione Francesca Rava - NPH Italia. They are equipped with the latest technology and are matched with institutions of excellence such as the Children's Hospital Buzzi of Milan, Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome, the Hospital del Ponte in Varese, in order to create a point of assistance in Haiti, to help women and their babies, but also for the training of young doctors, midwives and nurses in Haiti.
From Monday 9 to Friday 13, 20 will be held on the premises of the hospital an important training in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. . This training will be provided by the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG), supported by the Fondazione Francesca Rava, "Our Little Brothers and Sisters" and the Fondation St. Luc.
This is a major event to which will participate twenty Haitian doctors, that for sure will help to raise the level of obstetrical and gynecological practice in Haiti.
