He stressed that the number of Guyanese soldiers who will be part of the multinational force has not yet been determined; their number "[...] will be determined based on discussions with our other partners and will be guided by the logistics services, training and expertise of each force."
Guyana thus joins 5 other nations which to date have expressed their interest in the formation of the Multinational Force which will provide operational support to the National Police of Haiti (PNH) to fight against criminal gangs, guarantee the security of installations and key locations and strengthen local action and policing in the long term.
In addition to Kenya, which will lead the mission, the Multinational Force will be made up (for the moment) of military and police personnel from Antigua and Barbuda, Guyana, Jamaica, the Bahamas and Suriname. However, it is expected that in the coming days, other countries will join this Mission to help Haiti overcome the serious crisis it is going through.
