Haitian sea pirates

Over the past weekend, 3 armed bandits robbed the sailboat "Lavi pap fini" coming from Arcahaie and heading for Pointe Latanier (6th communal section of Pointe-à-raquette). These sea pirates tied up the 4 sailors before stripping the passengers of their money and valuables. They also took away some goods that were on board the sailboat.

Justice paralyzed for 4 weeks

For the 4th week, all activities are virtually paralyzed at the Courthouse of Port-au-Prince as well as in other jurisdictions of the country due to the strike of the standing magistrates. They demand in particular the application of the law relating to the statute of the magistracy and proportional salaries to those of the sitting magistrates.

The BRH will inject another US 150 million

The Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) announced that during the months of January and February 2021 it will inject another 150 million US dollars into the foreign exchange market in order to stabilize the rate between the Gourdes and the US dollars.

Already 6.1 billion gourdes in deficit

Monday during a joint press briefing by Michel Patrick Boisvert, Minister of the Economy and Finance and Jean Baden Dubois, Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), Minister Boisvert said concerning the financing State monetary policy by the Central Bank "[...] on December 11, monetary financing is 6.1 billion gourdes" ensuring that it is in accordance with the pact signed with the BRH by recalling "[...] in the budget, monetary financing of around 39.3 billion gourdes is planned"by the end of the fiscal year (Sept. 31, 2021)," adding "We are in agreement with the pact signed with the BRH".

Yves Jean-Bart strikes back

Yves Jean-Bart, former President of the Haitian Football Federation, banned for life from sport due to allegations of sexual abuse of young players, says the accusations are false and baseless, especially those accusing him of having made several players pregnant when he is unable to procreate due to his treatment for cancer which made him infertile and that "corrupt" FIFA uses him as a "scapegoat". He announces that he has appealed the FIFA decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Geneva.

Diplomatic floral offering
