Haiti - 214th J-J Dessalines : Floral offering from President Jovenel Moïse
Saturday October 17, as part of the commemoration of the 214th anniversary of the assassination of Jean-Jacques Dessalines (October 17, 1806), Founding Father of the Haitian Nation, President Jovenel Moïse accompanied by his wife Martine, Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe, Ministers and Secretaries of State, Directors General, members of the High Staffs of the Army (Fad'H) and the National Police of Haiti (PNH), made during a ceremony, a floral offering in memory of the Dessalines assassination
During this ceremony. President Jovenel Moïse declared "[...] I laid down a wreath at the Haitian National Pantheon Museum (MUPANAH), to honor the memory of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, the founding Father of our Homeland. An act that renews our faith in the legacy he bequeathed to us [...] Haiti needs tolerance, peace and stability. In this circumstance, let us join forces, let us forget our quarrels, let us privilege collective well-being in order to guarantee a better country for future generations [...]"
Note that Jovenel Moïse, once again this year, did not go to Pont-Rouge, the site of the Dessalines assassination, in order to not provoke the radical opposition which had declared this Saturday a day of general anti-government mobilization to demand the resignation of the Head of State.
