Haiti - Vietnam : Youri Latortue, talks with his Vietnamese counterpart

Monday Youri Latortue heading a delegation of parliamentarians, on an official visit from June 17 to 22 in Vietnam, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21261-haiti-news-zapping.html met with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyên Thi Kim Ngân, President of the National Assembly.

Welcoming the delegation's visit, President Nguyen Thi Kim Ngân said he hoped that this first activity between the two legislative bodies of the two countries would help to promote their friendly and cooperative relations. She recalled that Vietnam was still closely following the situation in Haiti and welcomed the achievements that contributed to enhance its role and prestige in the region and in the world.

Welcoming the achievements in bilateral cooperation, Senator Latortue, stressed that Haiti wished to promote its cooperation with Vietnam, in particular in the sectors of telecommunications, agricultural production and gender equality.

Nguyên Thi Kim Ngân, who considered as modest the value of bilateral trade ($50 million in 2015), said the two countries could strengthen their economic and investment cooperation through cooperation models such as the one between the military telecommunications group (Viettel) and the company NATCOM in Haiti.

That same day, the Haitian delegation visited the Viettel telecommunications group and later the President of the National Assembly, organized a banquet in honor of the President of the Senate, Youri Latortue, his wife and the Haitian delegation.
