The House of Representatives yesterday passed the electoral law that paves the way for the conduct of elections in Haiti. Members convened since Friday, November 22 in extraordinary session by the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, approved on second reading by a large majority the initiative in the same terms as passed https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9576-haiti-elections-the-senate-passed-the-electoral-law-after-amendments.html last month (October 2) by the Senate. The text of the law must now be sent to the Executive for promulgation and subsequent publication in the official journal Le Moniteur.

However, according to Jean Tholbert Alexis "the tenant of the National Palace may, if desired, odge objections to the electoral law [...]," the Head of State has a deadline of 8 days to make objections.

In a message the Prime Minister declared "I take a few minutes now to greet the vote of the Electoral Act by the House of Representatives. Following two readings, the text was finally adopted and sent to the President of the Republic in order to be published tomorrow.

Finally there will be elections in Haiti !

The 71 deputies present, from all all blocks and political trends have adopted the text of the Elections Act unanimously. The legal and legal instrument is therefore ready to allow the holding of elections in due form.

We have just to show the Haitian people and the world that our democracy is alive and well, that despite obstacles and disagreements, we do the necessary to ensure the smooth running of the state."

On the other hand the members of the lower house rejected the objections of President Martelly on the law on political parties, therefore this text will be published as it has been adopted by both chambers.

Recall that during this convocation to the extraordinary the parliamentarians will have to work on 5 other bills : that on the National Fund for Education [waiting for over 2 years], on political parties, on electronic commerce, electronic signatures and electronic exchanges as well as 4 international treaties are the Agenda
