As part of the social assistance program initiated by the Government, Charles Jean-Jacques, Minister of Social Affairs, accompanied by Mr. Hugo Charles, Departmental Delegate of the Northeast, has recently proceeded in Dérac [9 km from the city of Fort Liberté], to the opening of a community restaurant [the first of a network]. It was also the occasion of a distribution of food kits and envelopes to more than a thousand residents of the area "I was appointed by the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe to accompany Dérac, which is a symbol reflecting the precarious socio-economic situation of many areas across the country," stated the Minister. Aware of the looming food crisis, threatening vulnerable populations of Dérac, he reassured the Déracois of the full support of the team in power whose the extensive social assistance program called "Ede pèp", with its various projects, aims to improve their living conditions.

With the prospects for the future, which clarify for Dérac, with the arrival of community restaurant, which will allow most vulnerable population to have daily hot dish prepared in the most hygienic conditions, residents of the area have welcomed the Minister, while thanking the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, who had visited them recently, particularly concerned about their precarious socio-economic situation.

In addition, the Minister distributed streetlights for illuminating the area, and stated that, the regions, among others of : Fort Liberté, Ferrier, Perches, Carice, Caracol, Mont-Organisé, Capotille, Phaëton, Trou du Nord, will also benefit from the Social Assistance Program.

For his part Hugo Charles, did not hide his satisfaction to see Dérac benefit in the first line of thie program. Thanking the government team for its support to the people, he said, to keep the memory of the time when this area was thriving and prosperous with intense economic activities in the 50s. Aware of the decline of Dérac he said appreciates the fact that the administration wants to remake the image of the area that desperately needs to get out the socio-economic stagnation and underdevelopment.

"The 150,000 hectares, covering the area of Dérac are likely to allow entrepreneurs to take economic initiatives with the establishment of industries that facilitate the creation of high-intensity activities of labor," said CASEC, Ronel Dorsainvil, while expressing the hope incarnated by the current administration, which works according to him, "to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations," Ronel Dorsainvil added that the needs, the erection of a public square, the promotion of agriculture and of mechanized fishing should be taken into account beyond the implementation of this community restaurant.
