Haiti - Social : Port-au-Prince prohibits parades of DJs and Musical Floats

Marie Joseph René, the President of the Communale Commission of Port-au-Prince (Acting Executive Officerresponsible for the administration of the municipality) has sent a notice indicating that during the National Carnival in Cap Haitien there will be no parade of floats, of DJs in Port-au-Prince "the National Carnival will take place at Cap Haitien the 10-11-12 February. On the Champs de Mars, Port-au-Prince, there will be no parade of floats, of DJs during these three days [...]

The City Council decided to put big screens in Canapé Vert, Martissant and the Champ de Mars, during these 3 fat days, so that people can follow the carnival parade of Cap Haitien. We do not want DJs in the streets, because we have a security problem, we would need a staff to secure these areas and we are not able [...] It is for this reason that we ask to stop the parades in Port-au-Prince during these 3 days [...] the vast majority of the population will move towards the north and we do not need two carnivals [...] They [DJs ] can do animation at the point determined, but we do not want they circulate throughout the city [...]

We sent this message to those who are concerned, we have also thank them, because without them, Port-au-Prince would not have been able to benefit from the entertainment they gave us during the days pre-carnevalesques [...] we gave them an appointment for the Carnival of Flowers, that the Carnival Committee, will realize in the town of Port-au-Prince [...]"
