Haiti - Politic : Senator Desras wonders about the PSP...

Following the establishment last Saturday after a two-day retreat at Club Indigo, of a new majority bloc "Parliamentarians for Stability and Progress (PSP)" composed of 60 deputies, Simon Dieuseul Desras President of the Senate declared "[...] I think that such an approach has positive aspects, but also uncontrollable variables that can have a negative impact as well.

For the positive, I think it is good that there may be of convictions and positions that can be expressed and arrested [...] at least, the government will be able to rely on the vote of this group of 60 deputies who said : we will support the government [...]"

The Senator Desras that seems totally ignore the previous statements of the Deputy Jean Tholbert Alexis, General Coordinator of the PSP wonders "is that this group of deputies will support blindness all the actions that the government will do outside the control task they have ? That is an interrogation [...]"

Yet the Deputy Alexis was explicit in a statement precedent that of the Senator by specifying "Our oversight role, we will fully play it"

"[...] The other variable, is that we are faced with a government who often has a despot behavior [...] if you do not agree with everything it does, you're not with them, or if you do not share everything it asks you, you have no right to make an action, otherwise it is a favor that it gives you [...] the question that now arises about the behavior of these deputies, who are part of this group, that will support the actions of the government, is in which limits, in what sense and in what orientations ? This may be the three questions that the enators may have under such an approach. As a statesman, if I were them, I will support the government to a certain extent, there are things that do not fit within the legal framework, under the Constitution, under the normal framework [...] at this time, ourselves we can not support them..." concluded the Senator Desras.

Recall that in the statements of Deputy Tholbert Jean Alexis, the latter clearly stated that it was to support the government [and not the President] in the application of the General Policy [ratified by a majority in both Houses], what defined, the framework and limits of actions of the Government and of Parliamentarians : respect, of the General Policy, of the Constitution and laws.
