Wednesday, in the presence of Mrs. Pamela White, U.S. Ambassador in Haiti, Me Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice, Godson Aurélus, Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), and of David Basile, Coordinator of the National Commission for Fight against Drugs (CONALD) ; the President Michel Martelly has officially launched a training seminar and of discussion on the fight against drugs, at the club indigo. This 2-day seminar, aims to raise awareness on the negative impact of the corruption and drugs on society.

Mr. David Basile, has reiterated his commitment to combat the scourge of the drug which, according to him, destroyed the youth "Youth without drugs remains one of the long term objectives of the CONALD and a beneficial project expected to mobilize the energies of all the forces of the Nation."

For his part Godson Aurélus promises during his mandate, to prevent, punish and especially working with all the links of the criminal chain, in order to bring the corruptors and drug traffickers before the competent courts. Mr. Aurélus, who believes that the fight will not be easy, however, gives full guarantee that the police will work closely with the law.

Me Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice and Vice-President of the CONALD, said to hope a sharing of information in real time, in order to reverse the trend and asks to all actors concerned to come together to find appropriate solutions to these problems.

In his intervention, the Head of State, who congratulated the CONALD for this initiative, believes that the battle can not be carried out without the participation of all actors forming the chain of repression and urged the population in general and youth in particular, to be suspicious with the temptation of easy money "The idea that the drug is a source of job creation and of wealth is an illusion for the population suffering from unemployment, especially for young people, who could succumb to the temptation of easy money. Huge awareness efforts are needed to ensure that traffickers do not benefit from impunity from the criminal justice system or of complacent in our society."
