Haiti - Politic : The Senate has not yet received a request from the Ministry of Justice
Following the consequences of alarmist statements made on March 8 by Senators Joseph Lambert (Southeast) and Steven Benedict (West), the Government Commissioner sent a letter to his superior, Michel Brunache, the Minister of Justice in order to obtain the availability for the justice of Senators Joseph Lambert and Steven Benoît for having disturbed the public order. The Minister confirmed this information "...I have indeed received a letter in this regard, of Government Commissioner [...] he asks the authorization of be able to question those who would be responsible for all this [...] I intend to proceed with the request of the Government Commissioner, which means forward it to the President of the Senate [...]"
However, Simon Dieuseul Desras, the Senate President said he has not yet received anything so far from the Ministry of Justice "...so far we have not yet received the request, we heard about this, but as we have not received it, we can not opine on it..." adding "...there are two aspects that we will have to analyze before this potential demand. Firstly, the admissibility of the request of the Minister of Justice. Can we get something from the hands of a Minister of Justice of a government resigning ? We need to do extensive research to see the legal aspect of the thing [...] the Conference of Presidents asked to call into question any convocation because the ministers are resigning and that they no longer have to enter the Parliament now. Second, when you complain, that there is someone [or more] which denounces a Senator, until the Commissioner of the Government take a case of this kind to address the Senate [...] which is a big institution, you must be prepared, it is necessary that the Government Commissioner has already investigated, that the morality and relationship of denouncer(s) in this case is examined [...]"
