3 prominent figures kidnapped

Journalist Wesly Renaud was kidnapped in Delmas 31 on Sunday, September 6, 2026, while lawyer Caleb Jean Baptiste, Stéphanie Paultre, the Director General of the National Office for Partnership in Education (ONAPE), and the two police officers providing their security were kidnapped in the commune of Ennery (Artibonite department) on Monday afternoon, September 7. According to our sources, they may currently be held captive in Pendu, a locality in the commune of Gros-Morne.

Two prestigious friendly matches for our senior Grenadières

As part of FIFA friendly matches, our senior Grenadières (ranked 47th in the world) will play two important prestigious matches in France in October. The national team will face Japan, ranked 5th in the world, and then Australia, ranked 15th. Two high-level matches to assess the progress of the Haitian national team. Spain : Towards a Much Larger Scholarship Program ?

On Monday, September 7, 2026, as part of efforts to explore ways to strengthen academic cooperation between Spanish and Haitian universities, Ambassador Wooldy Edson Louidor held a working meeting with Óscar García Suárez, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and Ms. Teresa Lozano Mellado, Secretary General of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE). Discussions focused particularly on the possibilities of establishing a much larger scholarship and academic mobility program to benefit a greater number of young Haitians.

Gressier : Terrorists Retreat

In an effort to restore security in the commune of Gressier, several units of the Haitian National Police (PNH), including SWAT, the Anti-Gang Tactical Unit (UTAG), the Intervention and Research Brigade (BRI), and the Departmental Unit for Maintaining Order (UDMO), with the support of the Task Force, launched a series of operations on Friday, September 4th, 2026, to clear roads and destroy barricades to facilitate access to gang strongholds operating in these areas, and to allow for free movement and the resumption of activities. Due to the tactics used by the police, several terrorists were fatally wounded, and several others chose to flee.

OPL Calls for a Review of the Electoral Process

The People's Organization in Struggle (OPL) rejects and calls for a review of the electoral process, deeming the current electoral process "neither realistic nor reliable". The OPL is calling for a revision of the electoral decree, a new electoral calendar, and an acceleration of voter registration. The party is also calling for the strengthening of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) to create the necessary security conditions for the elections.
