On Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026, as part of the monitoring of activities and strategic priorities, Mario Andrésol, the Minister of Defense, accompanied by several members of his cabinet, chaired a working meeting with members of the High Command of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd’H).

This meeting focused on assessing the needs of the Armed Forces, strengthening their operational capabilities, and analyzing the evolving security situation throughout the country. The finalization of the FAd’H’s new doctrine and the upcoming participation of 114 military personnel in a training mission to Mexico were also discussed.

The members of the High Command presented an overview of the FAd’H’s current situation and outlined the institution’s main needs, particularly regarding equipment and resources adapted to the realities and requirements of the various theaters of operation. The discussions also addressed the need to improve the training conditions and framework for recruits currently undergoing instruction at the Vertières base.

In his remarks, Minister Andrésol expressed his deep concern about the persistent deterioration of the security situation, particularly in the commune of Kenskoff, which has recently been severely affected by renewed violence that has claimed numerous victims and plunged entire families into grief and uncertainty (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-48290-haiti-flash-new-massacre-in-kenskoff-at-least-60-victims.html).

Faced with this situation, Andrésol emphasized the need for the Armed Forces of Haiti to continue strengthening their operational capabilities and to fully assert their role in security operations, in accordance with their constitutional mandates. He stressed the importance of enabling the institution to contribute more effectively to the protection of the population and the defense of the integrity of the national territory.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Andrésol called on the entire chain of command to maintain constant mobilization and to pursue ongoing efforts focused on a national imperative : strengthening the capabilities of the Armed Forces, better responding to security challenges, and contributing, alongside other relevant institutions, to the gradual restoration of security and the protection of the Haitian population.
