Wishes to Cap-Haitien

The Ministry of Tourism extends its best wishes to all residents of Cap-Haïtien on the occasion of the city's patron saint's day, August 15th, which coincides with the Feast of Our Lady of the Assumption (the patron saint of Cap-Haitien) and the 356th anniversary of the city's founding. To mark this historic date, a Te Deum of thanksgiving was celebrated at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption. On this solemn occasion, the Municipal Commission wished all the residents of Cap-Haitien, as well as the city's sons and daughters living abroad, a happy feast day. Together, let us continue to preserve our heritage and work towards a safer, cleaner, and more prosperous city. Happy feast day to all !

PNH : Transition building in Santo completely destroyed

On the night of Wednesday, August 12th to Thursday, August 13th, members of the "103 Zombies" gang first set fire to the transition building constructed in Santo to house police officers, before completely demolishing it with sledgehammers and jackhammers throughout the night, despite the presence of specialized units of the Haitian National Police (PNH) in the area, who did not intervene.

Social : Technical Assistance Training

Bahamas : Celebrating the 235th Anniversary of Bois Caïman

On Friday, August 14, 2026, the Embassy of Haiti in the Bahamas celebrated the 235th anniversary of the Bois Caïman ceremony, in the presence of Jerussa Alli, Director General of the Bahamas Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic and consular corps accredited to the Bahamas, representatives of international organizations, and community leaders. On this occasion, Dern Jovens Bonhomme, Haiti's Ambassador to the Bahamas, met with representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps to discuss Haitian history, the historical significance of Bois-Caïman, and Haiti's efforts to restore security in the country and create the necessary conditions for holding upcoming elections in accordance with democratic principles.
