Dominican Exports to Haiti on the Rise

Dominican exports to Haiti totaled US$678.56 million between January and June 2026, a 22.45% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. This growth is explained by a 39.4% increase in exports under the national regime and a 28.5% decrease in exports via free trade zones, due to instability in Haiti.

High Level of Sexual Violence

In Haiti, sexual violence against women and girls has reached an alarming level. In the first half of 2026, more than 5,500 cases of gender-based violence were reported, representing nearly 70% of the total recorded throughout 2025. This increase is attributed to persistent insecurity and forced displacement. According to Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, the months of April to June saw more than 3,000 cases, with over 1,000 occurring in June alone. Nearly 70% of the cases recorded in the last six months were rapes, many of them gang rapes, perpetrated by armed groups, according to data from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). More than half of the victims were internally displaced persons.

U-17 Football : First Haitian Player in Argentina's National Team

Stephen Ramos, nicknamed "Kiki" born in Port-au-Prince in 2009 and a survivor of the devastating 2010 earthquake, made history by becoming the first Haitian-born player to represent Argentina at the U-17 level. PNH : 157 New Police Officers Evaluated Before Deployment
