On Monday, June 29, 2026, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé participated in the official launch of the first National Investment Forum, Global Gateway Haiti 2026, a crucial economic milestone for repositioning the country on the international investment map. Led by the European Union, this major event brought together political leaders, international donors including the European Union, France, and Spain, European financial institutions, and representatives of the Haitian private sector, all united by a shared ambition: to mobilize sustainable capital for the country's transformation. In her address, the European Union Ambassador, Ms. Hélène Roos, welcomed the forum, emphasizing that the Global Gateway strategy supports efforts to build a safer, more stable, and more prosperous Haiti through transformative investments in governance, security, and infrastructure. The discussions held today highlighted a remarkable convergence of views between the Haitian government, the national private sector, and European partners around three key areas : • Reliable Energy and Electricity : Identified as the essential foundation for all industrial competitiveness, from agri-food processing to digital services. Emphasis was placed on scaling up renewable energy solutions, mini-grids, and energy storage. • Connectivity and Transport Infrastructure : Modernizing ports, airports, and logistics corridors to open up isolated regions, reconnect Haiti to the global economy, and integrate it into value chains. • Agriculture and Agribusiness : Transforming the country's real potential (cocoa, coffee, mangoes, vetiver, etc...) into national wealth through the deployment of cold chains, logistics platforms, and certification mechanisms. In his address, the Prime Minister reaffirmed his government's commitment to addressing security and economic challenges in order to create an environment conducive to investment. He highlighted the government's priorities, including the development of infrastructure, ports, airports, logistics, agriculture, and agribusiness, with the goal of sustainably reconnecting Haiti to the Caribbean and international markets. "The time has come to invest in Haiti's resilience. The time has come to invest in its youth. The time has come to invest in its productive capacity," declared the Prime Minister, commending the mobilization of private sector stakeholders. The Prime Minister concluded by emphasizing that this day marks the beginning of a continuous working method aimed at building a clear investment pipeline. He reaffirmed that restoring security remains essential for economic recovery and the consolidation of democracy, while renewing the Government's commitment to creating the necessary conditions for holding the upcoming elections. As the guest of honor for the closing session, alongside the Ambassador of the European Union, engineer Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis, Minister of Public Works, delivered a speech imbued with responsibility, clarity, and confidence. He reaffirmed a strong vision : "Waiting for perfect conditions cannot constitute a development strategy." HL/ HaitiLibre
