Haitian Customs : The Government guarantees continuity of services and accelerates reforms 26/06/2026 10:02:01
The Government wishes to reassure all users of customs services across the country that the General Customs Administration (AGD) is continuing its operations as normal and remains fully committed to providing efficient, regular, and high-quality services to the public, despite employee demands. In a context where the stability of public institutions remains essential to the functioning of the State, the Government reaffirms its commitment to guaranteeing the continuity of customs services throughout the national territory. Aware of the strategic role the AGD plays in the country's economic life, the Government reiterates that this institution is a crucial link in the mission of controlling trade, monitoring the territory, and collecting public revenue. The resources collected by customs enable the State to finance its operations and ensure the uninterrupted provision of essential services to the public. The Government calls upon all employees of the Customs Administration (AGD), including managers, customs officers, contractors, and administrative staff, to continue their work in a climate of calm, responsibility, integrity, and discipline. Respect for administrative principles and professional obligations remains essential for the proper functioning of the institution and for maintaining the trust of citizens and the State's partners. At the same time, the Government acknowledges the legitimacy of the concerns expressed by customs officers regarding their working conditions, professional benefits, and pension rights. To this end, the competent authorities are actively pursuing consultations and taking the necessary steps to identify and implement sustainable solutions that meet staff expectations while strengthening institutional performance. A thorough analysis of the situation has already been conducted to better understand the difficulties encountered and to provide appropriate responses as quickly as possible. The reforms undertaken aim in particular to improve administrative coordination, modernize management mechanisms, and promote greater harmonization of procedures, with the goal of ensuring more efficient, transparent, and effective operation of the General Customs Administration. The Government of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé reiterates its commitment to protecting, strengthening, and modernizing the customs institution for the benefit of the Haitian State and the entire nation. It encourages the continuation of a constructive dialogue between the Directorate General of Customs and its employees in order to reach concerted solutions to current challenges. In this spirit of responsibility and cooperation, the Government invites all agents to fully resume their activities while efforts continue to address their demands and secure the future of the institution.
