Cité Soleil : The gang war continues

Armed clashes between rival gangs continued during the night of Thursday June 18 to Friday June 19, 2026, in the town of Cité Soleil. IOM : 21,000 beneficiaries in 2025

Death of Nicolas Lemithe

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs learned with great sadness of the death, which occurred on June 15, 2026 in Port-au-Prince, of Ambassador Nicolas Lemithe, former Representative of Haiti in Mexico, Colombia, Italy, Venezuela and the United Nations. The Ministry would like to salute the brilliant and exemplary career of this servant of the Nation. While bowing to his remains, he offers his most emotional condolences to the members of his family, his former colleagues, as well as the staff of the central and external services. Training : conciliation and arbitration

With the technical support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP - Haiti), through the Justice Support and Fight against Impunity Project (PAJLI), funded by the Government of Canada and the Kingdom of Norway, the Port-au-Prince Bar continues its annual continuing education program for its members. From June 17 to 19, 2026, a fourth session was devoted to alternative methods of dispute resolution, in particular conciliation and arbitration. For three days, 48 ​​lawyers, including 14 women, strengthened their skills in these mechanisms which, in certain situations, allow disputes to be resolved in a quicker, more accessible and less confrontational manner than traditional legal procedures.
