The MTPTC is tackling the obstacles in the construction sector in Haiti

To strengthen public-private partnerships, engineer Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis, Minister of Public Works, met with representatives of the Haitian Association of Construction Companies (AHEC). The main objective of this meeting was to identify the major obstacles paralyzing the sector and to establish a roadmap for its regulation.

Restructuring the construction market was identified as an absolute necessity. The Minister emphasized the importance of a more rigorous organization to sustainably improve the sector in Haiti.

Several major challenges were addressed, including :

Access to public procurement : Participants examined the eligibility criteria, often considered too restrictive or unsuitable. These constraints prevent many local companies from effectively bidding on national or international tenders.

Payment Delays : Recurring difficulties in receiving payment from companies after work is completed weaken the national economic fabric and limit the investment capacity of service providers.

The meeting concluded with the decision to develop a project summary detailing the strategic objectives and priority constraints. The objective is clear : to transform the construction sector into a structured, competitive, and transparent engine of economic development. This initiative aligns with the Government's commitment to launching major modernization projects across the country, while supporting local entrepreneurship.
