Haiti - FLASH : First infos on international contributions to the GSF

Following the December 9th meeting in New York on international contributions to the Gang Supression Force (GSF), the first (unofficial) informations are beginning to circulate.

Canada, France, Chad, Burundi, Benin, The Gambia, Argentina, Gabon, the Dominican Republic, and Djibouti have announced concrete commitments to support gang repression operations in Haiti.

Chad has reportedly offered to send 1,500 soldiers. Five other countries, whose identities remain confidential for the time being, have pledged to provide the GSF with more than 3,000 personnel, primarily military, given the offensive nature of the new mission.

Other countries have also promised to provide mobile units, an air component, and a maritime component.

The Dominican Republic has announced a $10 million contribution to the Trust Fund and is making its hospital facilities available to the GSF for the wounded. Canada has also reportedly announced a contribution of US$40 million.

For the first time, Haiti will contribute US$50 million to the GSF, according to available information, including a monetary contribution and an unspecified amount in kind.

Countries that have expressed their willingness to contribute to the FRG must finalize their commitments by February 2026.
