Haiti - Telecom : Television in Haiti and the 2026 World Cup

On the occasion of World Television Day, the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) celebrates the fundamental role of this medium and congratulates the Grenadiers on their historic qualification.

This day is an opportunity to recognize the considerable impact of television on the lives of Haitians, as a vehicle for information, education, culture, and social cohesion. It highlights its importance as a means of communication and dialogue, emphasizing its responsibility in transmitting reliable information and promoting public debate.

CONATEL commends the commitment of professionals in the sector who are working to modernize their infrastructure and enrich their programming to meet the public's expectations, despite all the challenges they face today.

This celebration takes on a special resonance as Haiti experiences a historic moment : the Grenadiers' qualification for the 2026 World Cup on November 18, 2025 ( https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46239-haiti-flash-haiti-has-qualified-for-the-2026-world-cup-video.html ). This unprecedented sporting achievement highlights, more than ever, the essential role of television in national life.

Faced with this unifying event, Haitian television will have the crucial mission of :

• Bringing the entire population together around a shared dream;

• Ensuring media coverage accessible to all Haitians;

• Following and reporting on the journey of our national heroes;

• Maintaining the hope and pride that inspire the nation.

CONATEL is aware of the technical, economic, and infrastructural challenges that broadcasters will have to overcome to fulfill this mission.

On this World Television Day, CONATEL pays tribute to the work of audiovisual professionals. It applauds the Grenadiers' achievement and their historic qualification and pledges to support Haitian broadcasters in a collective effort so that every Haitian can follow the global adventure of our national team.
