Haiti - Literature : 9 Haitian authors shortlisted for the Carbet Prize of the Caribbean

The Prize Carbet of literature 2011, that rewards a Caribbean work, will be awarded Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Cayenne [French Guiana]. Among the eighteen candidates for this 22nd edition, the Haitian literature comes in force with nine writers, other candidates for the award, are shared between Martinique, Guadeloupe, Cuba, Jamaica and mainland France.

In the jury, are represented Brazil, Cuba, Haiti, Trinidad, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Quebec and Tunisia. During this literary week, permanent members of the jury and their guests, including novelists Simone Schwartz-Bart (Guadeloupe) and Evelyne Trouillot (Haiti), Prize winner 2010, will discuss of literature and culture in several high schools of Cayenne, Kourou, as well as the University of Antilles-Guyane.
