Haiti - Justice : Arrest of Pastor Dieune Day in the Dominican Republic

Thursday, December 12, 2024, Haitian Pastor Dieune Day, actively sought by the Haitian National Police (PNH) for smuggling of weapons and ammunition in the case of the Episcopal Church of Haiti (July 2022) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37154-haiti-flash-seizure-of-weapons-and-ammunition-imported-under-cover-of-the-franchise-of-the-episcopal-church-of-haiti.html , has been arrested in the Dominican Republic and handed over to the PNH by the Dominican authorities.

Pastor Dieune Day was the subject of a wanted notice from the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) for tax evasion, smuggling, breach of trust, criminal association and others...

It should be noted that Judge Martel Jean Claude in his order had written "[...] characterized facts and sufficient charges and clues that should be followed [...]" and referred Pastor Dieune Day (on the run) to the criminal court for his involvement in this case https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-40654-haiti-episcopal-church-the-investigating-judge-issued-his-order-in-the-arms-and-ammunition-trafficking-case.html

For the moment, Dieune Day is in police custody pending legal proceedings.
