With a projected budget of 64 million Gourdes, the city of Cap-Haïtien is celebrating its 354th anniversary of the founding of the city from August 7 to 19, 2024, with a rich program of cultural and artistic activities (exhibitions, dance and music shows, parades, concerts, agri-food fair, film screenings and excursions among others) to celebrate the history and cultural diversity of Cap-Haïtien.

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, the historic city of Cap-Haïtien proudly celebrated its 354th anniversary. This special day was marked by a series of events, including a major religious ceremony in the presence of three ministers.

The celebration began in the morning with a solemn mass at the Cathedral of Cap-Haïtien, where local authorities, government representatives and citizens gathered to pay tribute to this historic, touristic and national heritage city.

Throughout the day, the city vibrated to the rhythm of cultural and festive activities shared by a large number of residents and visitors from all over. A day that ended with the Tropicana Anniversary Gala.

This August 15 celebration was not only a look back, but also an opportunity to look to the future with hope and determination. Cap-Haïtien, "La Cité Christophienne", will continue to stand out as a pillar of Haitian history and culture.

Should be noted that a delegation from the city of Allada in Benin, arrived on August 13 in Cap-Haïtien, joined the cultural events. A twinning between Cap-Haïtien and Allada that symbolizes a step towards strengthening historical ties and local development, offering great opportunities for both cities and their inhabitants

In a note, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the North expressed its warmest wishes to the citizens and friends of the city of Cap-Haïtien on the occasion of its 354th anniversary. "Cap-Haïtien, with its rich historical and cultural heritage, remains a source of pride for all of us [...] Together, let's continue to work, despite the situation, for a prosperous and dynamic Cap-Haïtien.
