Haiti - USA : The PM spoke with Linda Thomas Greenfield

Monday July 22nd, 2024, the Prime Minister, Garry Conille, accompanied by several ministers met at the Welcome Villa, a large American delegation led by Linda Thomas Greenfield, the American Ambassador to the UN.

The Ambassador thanked Prime Minister Conille for his commitment to the international community on all aspects of the stabilization of Haiti. She stressed the importance of close coordination and communication between the transitional government and the leaders of the Kenyan-led Multinational Mission to restore security with the Haitian National Police (PNH) and allow the people Haitian to resume his activities in complete peace.

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and Prime Minister Conille also discussed priorities for current and future assistance to the Haitian people as security conditions improve. These priorities include addressing food insecurity, youth unemployment, sexual and gender-based violence and health infrastructure needs.

Prime Minister Conille declared at the end of the meeting that the discussions had focused in particular on the support by the United States to meet the major challenges of the transition "We met one of our most important partners to discuss a little of the support that the United States is giving us in this transition period."

In this meeting was also discussed the transition process, the organization of elections, constitutional reform, the restoration of security, the deployment of the multinational force, the National Conference and the management of the humanitarian crisis in Haiti.
