Haiti - UN : Russia and China criticize the USA for the flow of arms and ammunition to Haiti

During the meeting of the United Nations (UN) Security Council last week, the crisis faced by Haiti, its political transition and the Kenyan international mission were discussed. Furthermore, all the countries present reaffirmed their support for the cause. Some, like France, have announced an increase in their humanitarian aid of more than $13 million intended to fight food insecurity and malnutrition in Haiti.

On the other hand, Russia and China have taken a stand, ensuring that illegal weapons and ammunition continue to arrive from Miami to Haiti. "We ask the United States to improve controls and exchange information to stop the supply," said the Chinese representative.

"The arms embargo does not prevent illicit arrivals from the United States. If it had wanted, Washington could have put an end to this issue and it did not do so," lamented the Russian representation which holds the rotating presidency of the Council, criticizing the United States for not having done so about it.
