Haiti - FLASH : Kenya promises to deploy the mission after the establishment of the Presidential Transitional Council

After announcing the suspension of the Mission to Support the National Police of Haiti (PNH) in its fight against armed gangs following the resignation of Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-41872-haiti-flash-kenya-suspends-the-deployment-of-the-mission-in-haiti.html , the President of Kenya William Ruto Wednesday evening, following a telephone interview with the American Secretary of State Antony Blinken said "Blinken informed me that a new Presidential Transitional Council will be formed shortly to manage the situation in Haiti" for my part "I assured Blinken that Kenya will take the lead in the multinational mission immediately after the installation in Haiti of the Presidential Transitional Council."

Furthermore, President Ruto reinforced his commitment to the Mission and declared that Kenya will deploy a substantial number of soldiers alongside 1,000 police officers in order to restore stability in Haiti undermined by gangs.

For now, the United States is working to facilitate the arrival of the Mission in Haiti. Tuesday evening, according to the media Politico, the White House sent the Republicans its detailed plan on financing the mission. The Democrats hope that the Republicans will release these funds. Let's remember that the State Department is clashing with the chairmen of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael McCaul and Jim Risch, who are blocking essential funds for Kenya to send its men on the ground.
