7 years in prison for a police inspector

Arrested on March 30, 2022, Inspector Desrosiers D. Joseph in charge of the civil prison of Fort-Liberté and bailiff Beauvais Fednel were sentenced on July 17, 2023 to 7 years in prison for use of forgery and criminal association. The two men used false signatures to release a dangerous criminal, according to the charges against them by the government commissioner of Fort-Liberté, Me Eno Zéphyrin.

Cap-Haitien Airport : Refueling technical difficulty

Steve A. Mathieu, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the North (CCIN) is concerned about the refueling difficulties affecting Spirit Airlines flights in Cap-Haitien due to the malfunction of the refueling system. For almost two weeks, Spirit Airlines has been forced to refuel in Port-au-Prince before being able to return to its original destination.

APN : Temporary suspension of the strike

In a press release, the Union of National Port Authority (APN) employees announces that it has temporarily suspended the work stoppage launched for more than a week within the institution to claim the payment of salary arrears. This decision, effective since July 18, 2023, was taken to allow waiting ships to be able to dock and unload their cargo. The strikers threaten to resume the movement from July 24 if their demands are not met.

Support from Macron

"We support the UN resolution and both the UN commitment as requested by Haiti and we also support regional initiatives (Caricom)," said French President Emmanuel Macron at the EU-CELAC summit in Brussels.

Closure of the "Kiskeyart" project

On Wednesday, the Ambassador of the European Union in Haiti, Stefano Gatto, attended the closing of the Kiskeyart project. This binational project, implemented by the FOKAL Fokal and the Azuei An Mouvman Association, aimed to strengthen the relations of peace and good neighborliness between Haiti and the Dominican Republic through art. Artists and artisans participated in artistic residencies and the networking of talents on both sides of the island.

200 young graduates in Clothing Technology

As part of Taiwanese cooperation in vocational training, Ambassador Wen-jiann KU co-chaired last week the graduation ceremony of 200 young recipients from the Clothing Technology Training Center.
