Tuesday, February 28, 2023 Me Emmelie Prophète Milcé, the Acting Minister of Justice received a delegation from the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), led by the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ms. Helen La Lime.

During this high-level meeting, which was attended by Paul Eronce Villard, Director of Cabinet of the Minister, and Jean Fallières Bazelais, Director General of the Ministry, officials reviewed the urgent problems that the judicial system has been facing for years.

It was discussed at length, in particular : the reform of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the fight against illegal and arbitrary prolonged preventive detention https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38375-haiti-justice-the-hour-is-serious-the-situation-is-chaotic-dixit-the-minister-ai-prophete-milce.html , the creation of specialized judicial units targeting economic and financial offences, as well as gender-based violence.

The two parties have agreed to work in synergy to implement a justice support project that objectively addresses these scourges that hinder the proper functioning of justice in Haiti.
