Haiti - Politic : Police officers killed in Liancourt, the PM condemns and promises (Video)

Friday, January 27, 2023 in the evening, following the attacks on the Liancourt Police Station in the Artibonite where 6 brave police officers lost their lives under the bullets of the men of the "Gran Grif" gang https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38710-haiti-flash-18-police-officers-victims-of-armed-gangs-in-16-days.html and https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-38701-icihaiti-insecurity-6-police-officers-killed-in-clashes-with-the-gran-grif-gang.html Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry addressed the Nation.

In addition to his condolences and the promise that the State will assume its responsibilities towards the families of the police officers who died on duty. The Head of Government announced a meeting of the Superior Council of the PNH and the holding of a Council of Ministers this weekend affirming "[...] The police officers who claim through the streets require equipment to deal with armed gangs in the country, their demands will be met [...]" Moreover, addressing the protesting "police officers", whose way of acting he disapproves of, he invites them to "not be mistaken in opponents."

Address to the Nation by the Prime Minister :

For its part, the Citizen Protection Office (OPC) expresses its deepest indignation at the attacks orchestrated by armed gangs against members of the National Police of Haiti. The OPC, while presenting its sympathies to the parents of the police officers killed, and to the police institution in general, asks that a national funeral be organized for these brave disappeared and demands long-term support for the parents of the police officers killed.
