Let's recall that the search of the containers had revealed 18 assault rifles (AK-47, Galil and M4) a 12 gauge rifle, 4 pistols of 9 mm caliber, nearly 20,000 ammunition of different calibers and 120 chargers 1 sight and counterfeit bills fr the amount of 50,000 dollars. On August 17, 2022, after having refused several times to appear for a hearing at the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ), Father Frantz Cole, current diocesan executive secretary of the EEH, who would have initiated the process of customs clearance of the container and who allegedly contacted Gina Jean-Louis Rolls (arrested since) as a customs agent (broker), was taken into custody for the continuation of the investigation for arms and ammunition trafficking, smuggling, tax evasion, tax evasion, illicit enrichment and laundering of assets from serious offenses https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37427-haiti-flash-arms-trafficking-father-frantz-cole-in-custody.html

Following this arrest, the Episcopal Church of Haiti in a note affirms "[...] that it will not defend any natural person, whether prosecuted rightly or wrongly, within the framework of this case" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37460-haiti-flash-the-episcopal-church-does-not-intend-to-defend-father-frantz-cole.html

The PNH explains that "the arrest of Jean Gilles Jean Mary is justified by the existence of several documents dated from 2017 to 2021 that he had signed, authorizing the disbursement of funds from the account of the Episcopal Church to the account of an international arms trafficker actively sought by the DCPJ."
