Haiti - Politic : The mandate of the Prime Minister renewed for 30 days

For lack of agreement on the choice of a Prime Minister and the composition of a Government of national accord, the 30-day mandate of Prime Minister ai Claude Joseph which ended on Friday June 14, 2021 was renewed for the second time ( the special Le Moniteur #32 of June 14, 2021) by President Jovenel Moïse for the 2nd time https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33723-haiti-flash-president-moise-renews-the-mandate-of-the-prime-minister-for-30-days.html and for the same duration since the resignation of Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe last April https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33475-haiti-flash-resignation-of-pm-joseph-jouthe-claude-joseph-is-appointed-pm-ai.html

Following this renewal, Prime Minister Claude Joseph declared :

"I warmly thank the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Jovenel Moïse, for having kindly placed his trust in me to lead the interim Government.

While recognizing the enormity of the challenges of the moment, I am convinced that with the commitment of solidarity and the frank collaboration of all members of the Government, we will continue to rise to the task.

We invite, once again, the friends of the opposition to seize the outstretched hand of the Head of State, to sit at the table of dialogue with a view to the conclusion of an agreement leading to the establishment of a Government of national understanding."

Reacting to this renewal of mandate, Senator Joseph Lambert President of the Upper House declared "The reappointment of Prime Minister a.i. Claude Joseph could be seen as a decision of wisdom. The time for a political agreement which will finally bring the Government of national unity."

An opinion that does not share André Michel, one of the leaders of the radical opposition, for whom "The renewal of Claude Joseph is a waste of time at a time when the State is incapable of securing the country. No agreement is possible with Jovenel Moïse [...] neither cohabitation, nor elections [...]"
