Haiti - Health : 2020 balance of the National Ambulance Center

The General Directorate of the National Ambulance Center (CAN) presents the statistical data of the pre-hospital care of the 11,998 emergency cases carried out during the year 2020:

Obstetric emergencies remain the largest number of cases handled by CAN ambulances with a total of 3,965 cases (33.04%) of the total of all cases. (+ 27% compared to 2019).

In second place are Public Road Accidents 1,960 victims (16.33%) covered (+ 44.64% compared to the previous year).

Chronic diseases, this year total 1,554 cases (+ 52% compared to 2019)

285 cases of wounds (+ 38.34% compared to the previous year.

366 stab wounds (+ 20%)

788 transfers and transport (6.56%) for laboratory examinations (+ 10%)

In the context of Covid-19, CAN provided care for 732 suspected cases and 277 confirmed cases.

Finally, 119 cases of fever were recorded during the months of October and November, 80% of which were recorded in the department of Grand'Anse and are believed to be linked to an upsurge in malaria.

In the "Other" section, one find discomfort, cases of diarrhea, tuberculosis, anemia, etc...
