Haiti - Education : New anti-fraud measures in student registration procedures

Tuesday, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education accompanied by Ronyde Imbert, the Deputy Director of the Departmental Direction of the West, Miloody Vincent the Director of Communication of the Ministry, visited the examination center of the Lycée Marie Jeanne which has nearly 30 examination rooms.

At the end of his visit, the Minister Cadet expressed his satisfaction with the conditions of the tests in a calm and serene atmosphere. Summarizing the two days of exams, Cadet talked about success according to all the DDE reports.

On the sidelines of his visit Minister Cadet denounced the bad practices of some school directors who want to mislead the ministry and extract money from parents and said "These directors will be punished after an internal investigation in progress or they will no longer be able to register their candidates for State exams, either the license will be withdrawn from their school, or they will go to prison, it will depend on the seriousness of the fault."

"But beyond that, we need to change things," insisted the Minister who announced two new provisions in the registration procedures that will now be online and the introduction of two mandatory documents, an "Exaate" and an "Inata" for the mobility of students from one school to another or from one department to another.

Explaining "Any student who will now want to change their school or geographical area will have to have a document with all the documents from his school of origin and approved by the Ministry, before being accepted by another school who will also have to write a document on the concerned [...]" affirming "It is necessary to put order in the education sector, to stop the corruption which gangrene the system in order to raise the level of the Haitian school."
