Haiti - FLASH : Violence in Petite Rivière des Nippes, 6 dead including 4 people burned alive

On Monday morning, a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle belonging to Deputy Claude Luc Guillaume (Petit-Trou de Nippes) carrying 8 people returning from Ti-François' patron saint's day, was attacked by unidentified individuals on the road of Petite Rivière des Nippes.

These violent individuals set the vehicle on fire, 4 of the passengers remained prisoners in the Toyota and died burned alive while the 4 others managed to escape.

According to testimonies, the attacked vehicle was involved a little earlier in a shooting in Anse-à-Veau where two residents were shot dead. This suggests that it could be an act of popular justice. However, this version has not been confirmed for the moment from official source, an investigation being opened to discover the exact circumstance of this drama.

The tension remained strong all the day of Monday in the area where activities were highly disturbed.

In a statement, Deputy Claude Luc Guillaume, while offering his condolences to the families and friends of the victims condemns this murderous act, adding that all means must be made available to the police, so the perpetrators of "this odious crime be quickly arrested and answer for their actions in court."
