Haiti - Reconstruction : Resignation of the Interim Executive Director of the IHRC

Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive, and former President Bill Clinton, co-President of the Interim Commission for the Reconstruction of Haiti (IHRC) have announced yestzerday Tuesday in a press note that Mr Gabriel Verret, Interim Executive Director of the commission had resigned in accordance with the Executive Committee.

This decision comes at a time where the IHRC is preparing to pass under the governance of new leaders. While waiting to find a replacement they are enry Robert Louis and Laura Graham, that will control the daily operations of the commission. Mr. Verret was commended for his efforts and contributions as Executive Director and replacing welcomed that he has agreed to continue to support the work of the Commission as an adviser.

No detail was provided about the reasons of this resignation, however, recall that Mr. Verret beyond its function in the IHRC, was also the economic adviser of the outgoing President René Préval, this may explain his departure which could have been asked by the new President.
