Haiti - Petit-Goâve : Deputy Mayor Desgranges deprived of office and threatened by Mayor Limongy

Friday, January 11, despite the death threats of Mayor Jean Samson Limongy of Petit-Goâve, Deputy Mayor Desgranges bravely presented to the Town Hall (whose offices are housed in the private residence of Mayor Limongy) to perform his duties and fulfill his tasks as elected representative.

It was with amazement that he found that his office, his books and his files had disappeared "It is the Mayor who has passed the instruction. I deplore this act and I do not know where my office and my papers were transported," lamented Desgranges who appealed to the Judge of Peace Me Jude Leander to draw up a legal statement.

In addition, the Deputy Mayor informed the President of the National Federation of Haitian Mayors (FENAMH) of the situation and announced "I will continue to attend the Town Hall whatever happens."

Also note that Wednesday, January 9, another incident confirms that the divorce is total between Mayor Limongy and Deputy Desgranges. An extraordinary meeting to which Desgranges was not invited, was held around the priority projects to be financed with the 5 million Gourdes of communal funds which were deposited on the account of the Town Hall of Petit-Goâve.

Desgranges excluded from this meeting explained "The Mayor Jean Samson Limongy declared on the air of a local radio station that he would physically eliminate me in case he met me in the streets or at the premises of the Town Hall."
