Haiti - Education : Renewal of the dialogue with the unions

Tuesday, in the framework of the relaunch of the social dialogue with the unions, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education, in the presence of Delima Pierre, Director General of the National Office of the Partnership in Education (ONAPE), Meniol Jeune Director General of the Ministry and the Cabinet Director of the Minister, Jackson Pléteau and several officials of the Directorate of Human Resources, met at his invitation, the leaders of the trade union organization "Grouping of Teachers of the Fundamental for a Renovated Education by New and Solidary Actions"(REFERENCES) around the issue of the Fundamental Schools of Application and Pedagogical Support Center (EFACAP)

The various problems affecting the functioning of the EFACAPs and the disengagement movement observed for several months by members of the educational staff of these institutions in order to obtain, among other things, a salary adjustment were at the center of discussions.

At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed on the establishment of a working group aimed at assessing the overall situation of EFACAPs and finding appropriate answers to the various problems. In addition, the Minister Cadet promised to ensure a rapid follow-up with the Ministry of Economy to address the thorny problem of salary adjustment of staff of EFACAPs, a file long passed to the MEF, but not executed for lack of provisions budget...

Ministry officials are asking the EFACAP's pedagogical staff to understand them and to encourage them to continue their mission of supervising students, pending the gradual resolution of the problems affecting the proper functioning of these State reference schools.
