Haiti - Economy : The LEH wants to tax more than 200,000 borlettes
Margareth Fortuné, the Director General of the National Lottery of Haiti (NHL) intends to impose for the next fiscal year, a mandatory annual tax of 10,000 gourdes, on each of the some 200,000 Bank-Borlettes in Haiti, or nearly 2 billion Gourdes of recipes. Remember that according to the law creating the National Education Fund (FNE), it is an obligation for the LEH to pay among other things, a % of revenue generated by the concessions of the NHL and other games of chance. It should be noted that currently, the NHL collects less than 15% of taxes.
The contract between the state and the ANTB being expired, the NHL wants to regain control and its role of regulator of games of chance throughout the territory. A major challenge as the relationship between the National Association of Tenants of Borlette (ANTB) and the NHL are at stake and that less than 15% of taxes are collected.
