PM resigns, civil society deplores

Civil society organizations including the Haitian Center for Analysis and Research in Human Rights (CARDH), the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH), the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace (CE-JILAP), the Ecumenical Center for Human Rights (CEDH), the Center for Research and Economic and Social Training for Development (CRESFED), deplore the decision of Jack Guy Lafontant to come to the session last Saturday when he had already handed his resignation letter to President Jovenel https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24957-haiti-flash-resignation-of-the-prime-minister-lafontant.html . They describe this behavior as not in accordance with the Constitution, democratic principles and good governance, recalling that a resigning Government has no right to enter Parliament.

Textile Training Center

Thursday took place the Ceremony of handing certificates to the 4th promotion of the Training Center of the Textile Sector (TASC) in the presence of the executives of the Korean company Hansae who has just signed a contract with the TASC, for the training of 700 people.

Head of State meets unions

On Thursday, the Head of State met with representatives of the country's various unions around the challenges facing Haiti in the current socio-political context.

Cap-Haitien : Criminal Assizes

After several postponements, the criminal assizes with jury assistance will finally be able to be held in the jurisdiction of Cap-Haïtien. The period chosen for this meeting will run from July 23 to 27, 2018. Five cases will be heard within the framework of these Assizes.

Towards human rights action plan

Thursday Jean Roody Aly, the Minister resigned of justice held a working session with the former Minister of Justice, Me Rene Magloire and the Protector of the Citizen Me Renan Hedouville around the recommendations made to Haiti by the Council of Human Rights at the 38th session of this Council held in Geneva on 3 July 2018. The Minister Aly and Hedouville intend to work for the revitalization of the Inter-Ministerial Committee of Human Rights, with a view to reaching an action plan on human rights with civil society actors and international partners involved in human rights issues.
