Haiti - Chile : The equivalence of Haitian diplomas at the center of discussions

Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet the Minister of National Education and the accredited Ambassador of Chile in Haiti, Patricio Utreras, held a working meeting on cooperation in the education sector between the two countries.

Recall that following the signing in March 2017 of an agreement between President Jovenel Moïse and the President of the Republic of Chile, Michelle Bachelet at the time, a decree was published in the "Diario Oficial" of Chile on August 30 2017 concerning the "Supplementary Agreement to the Basic Agreement for Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Chile and the Government Of the Republic of Haiti for Equalization and Equivalence and Recognition of Primary, Medium and Secondary Education".

The issue of the equivalence of diplomas between Chile and Haiti was at the center of the exchanges in order to clarify certain aspects.

At the invitation of Chile, a team of Haitian executives from the Ministry of Education will travel to Santiago, Chile to participate in discussions on this issue at the beginning of July. It is essentially to facilitate the life of Haitians emigrated to Chile, who wish to pursue their academic studies. The recognition of diplomas obtained in Haiti is an essential element to enable students to continue their studies and is an essential aspect of Haitian-Chilean cooperation in education.
