Haiti - Politic : Management of communal funds, Minister Fleurant explained to the Senate

While mayors meeting in extraordinary assembly last Friday calls for the dismissal of Aviol Fleurant, the Minister of Planning, saying that he decided to grant Parliamentarians and to the Administration of Communal Sections (CASECs), the full power of management of communal funds allocated to municipalities https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23677-haiti-politic-the-mayors-of-the-country-require-the-revocation-of-minister-fleurant.html , Minister Fleurant responded Thursday, March 1 to the Senate Planning Committee to clarify the disbursement of funds allocated to the section of the communal funds

Minister Fleurant told members of the Commission that all current projects have been solicited by the town halls explaining that he had delegated the project management to the institutions with the required expertise in this area. He cited as examples 38 projects delegated to the Ministry of Public Works, 12 to the Ministry of Health and 18 to the Ministry of the Interior, stating that all funds were available for each of the institutions concerned.

Senators expect to have other meetings soon, including with the National Federation of Mayors (FENAM) to ensure that local authorities are both beneficiaries and actors of development projects.
