Haiti - OAS : Meeting on scholarships of Brazil and Mexico

The Scholarship Program, a co-operation between the Organization of American States (OAS), the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education of Brazil and Mexico and the academic institutions of these two countries aims to contribute to the human development in the region.

For this reason, the Governments of Brazil and Mexico intend to intensify their cooperative relations in higher education with the OAS Member States benefiting from this program.

During a meeting at a recent working dinner with members of the Evaluation Committee of the Scholarship Program, Ambassador Léon Charles, in the presence of Mr. Gonzalo Koncke, Chief of Staff of the Secretary General of the OAS, Ms. Kim Osborne, Executive Secretary for Integral Development, diplomats from the Permanent Missions of Brazil and Mexico and a group of professors from several Universities in Brazil, took the opportunity to thank the Government of Brazil, on behalf of the 14 Caricom countries to the OAS and all the other actors involved in this program for their efforts, while recalling that higher education is a priority for the Caricom countries and especially for Haiti.

It should be noted that of the 546 scholarships awarded this year to young scholars from 25 countries in the region, 38 Haitians were beneficiaries.
