Haiti - Politics : Moïse visits the Bonneau power plant

Thursday in Bonneau (Department of the North-West), President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by Fritz Caillot, Minister of Public Works, the deputy of Saint-Louis du Nord, Freud Morancy, and several local officials visited the installation of the 1.6 megawatt diesel power plant.

The Head of State took the opportunity to renew his promise to do everything possible to accelerate the installation of equipment to transform the potential of wind and solar power in the commune of Bonneau into electrical energy and to increase capacity from 1.6 to 20 megawatts by exploiting diesel, solar and wind, as in the case of the future power plant of Irois whose he visited the site last week https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21723-haiti-technology-irois-power-plant-a-first-in-the-country.html

Thanks to its 1.6 megawatt generator, the Bonneau power plant will supply the communes of Anse-à-Foleur, Saint-Louis du Nord and La Pointe des Palmistes.

Note that in order to promote the development of cleaner energies: solar, wind, hydroelectric and natural gas, the Executive in the draft finance bill 2017-2018 in Article 24 proposes the abolition of customs duties on goods such as inter alia : photovoltaic panels, solar pumps, solar refrigerators, wind generators, solar generator, power converters, solar lighting, solar water heater and the parts related to the maintenance of such equipment.
