Following the 1.7 million euros already disbursed last October to meet the most urgent humanitarian needs https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18876-haiti-humanitarian-the-european-union-intensifies-its-support.html https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18841-haiti-humanitarian-first-aid-from-the-european-union.html the European Union is increasing its humanitarian assistance to the victims of Matthew in Haiti, with an additional €2 million in addition to the envelope of € 20 million in development aid https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19046-haiti-europe-20-million-euro-additional-assistance-from-eu.html , also undertaken by the European Union for the reconstruction of essential public infrastructure - such as schools, roads and bridges - and to develop agricultural crops for many rural populations.

These new funds will be dedicated to the populations of the most affected regions, in order to provide them with food assistance and provide shelter to protect them from the torrential rains of the season. This additional aid is intended to ensure that the most affected Haitians are better housed, that the schooling of the children is resumed and that the livelihoods of the rural populations are restored.
