Haiti - Education : Gradual resumption of school activities

Tuesday, the Ministry of National Education has informed us that according to the instructions recommending the gradual resumption of school activities in the affected areas, schools have reopened their doors in the South including in Les Cayes : The National School of Lassègue, the Fundamental School of Application and Pedagogic Support Centre (EFACAP) OF Michel Lazarre, the National School Claire Heureuse, the National School Semiramis and the National School of Miserne.

Meanwhile, with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the rehabilitation of at least 6 schools began in the South and Nippes. UNICEF and the Swiss Cooperation should do the same this week. UNICEF will rehabilitate 80 schools in the South, Grande Anse and Nippes.

Other partners, like the World Bank and CARE will also follow on the ground. At the Government of Haiti: the Fund for Economic and Social Assistance (FAES), the Office of Monetization of Development Aid Programs (BMPAD) and the Housing Construction and Public Buildings Unit (ULCBP) must also incessantly undertake work in some targeted schools in their areas of intervention.

Other components of the Response Plan of Ministry will be implemented, such as distribution of school kits, the provision of school meals, psycho-social support and support for teaching and administrative staff.
