Haiti - Economy : 84 young of Nippes trained in entrepreneurship

As part of the Youth Alternatives program, 84 young people from 11 communes of Nippes department participated recently for a week to an entrepreneurship training seminar in Miragoâne and Anse-à-Veau by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC).

These young people selected from over 500 candidates were supervised by 5 technicians from the Directorate of Youth and Social Integration of the inistry that addressed some theme like : the creation of a micro-enterprise; the negotiation of the financing and the preparation of a business plan.

The Deputy Yvon Gesthe, the Departmental Delegate, Jamil Vincent and the Departmental Director of the Ministry to Nippes who attended the certificate ceremony for participants were unanimous in recognizing that this initiative will help young people to participate in the economic recovery of the department and to reduce unemployment. For senior officials of Nippes department, the country will change with dynamic entrepreneurs. Because this training in entrepreneurship and business creation seeks sustainable development.

Following the seminar, the business plans submitted by the various participants will be funded by the Government of Haiti. Depending on the value and scope of the business plan, costing between 100,000 and 250,000 gourdes will be given to young people to start and grow their own business.

This program will be replicated in other Department of country.
