Haiti - France : Modernization of a major Vocational Training Centre

Committed in favor of a better integration of young Haitians in the working world, the French Development Agency (AFD) finance the modernization of a major Vocational Training Centre of Port-au-Prince.

Recall that the Vocational Training Centre in Haiti usually have obsolete equipment, often deliver poor quality of teaching, what makes the formation of many young people go through traditional apprenticeships with artisans.

In order to better meet the skill needs of Haitian economic players and promote the socio-professional integration of young Haitians, AFD launched November 24, 2015 a project on education and training entitled "Competence for youth employment" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15864-haiti-training-launching-of-the-project-competence-for-youth-employment.html , this project amounting to € 5 million over 4 years notably provides for the modernization of the Pilot Centre of the National Institute of Professional Training (INFP), near the industrial park in Port-au-Prince and the poor neighborhood of Cité Soleil.

Developed jointly with the Haitian authorities, including the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training and the Office of the Secretary of State for Vocational Training, the project will also receive support from the International of Labour Office (ILO) through a co-financing of the Minustah $600,000.

Furthermore, the rapprochement with the private sector at large (formal and informal) is a key issue for the success of this project, in order to develop a training adapted to the needs of the Haitian economy.

Rehabilitation works of Pilot Centre of the INFP should be completed before the end of 2016.
