Haiti - Europe : Official inauguration of the new building of BONFED

Friday, the National Authorising Officer, Charles Jean-Jacques, participated to the official inauguration of the new building of the Office of the National Authorising of European Development Fund (BONFED), located in Christ-Roi, on the same location was the old building destroyed in the earthquake of January 2010. The ceremony took place in the presence of Prime Minister Enex Jean-Charles, members of the Government and Head of delegation of the European Union, Ambassador Vincent Degert.

The construction of this new building with an area of 1,270 m2 (started in July 2014), is built on a metal structure, according to modern standards of earthquake-resistant construction and was funded to the tune of more than €2,6 million (2,650,370) from the re-programming of the 10th EDF, as part of the project of reconstruction of the ministries.

For his part, Charles Jean Jacques expressed his gratitude to the EU for its support to the Haitian government. He took the opportunity to salute the memory of 5 employees died in the earthquake of 2010, in the collapse of the old building of the office. He also recalled that the BON currently managing a total of €400 million to finance several development projects in Haiti.
